well i just bought a dell9100 comp and i had 2 chose between the 9100 or a middle class alienware computer and my "research" showed that dell has better costumer/computer parts support..:) im smart...
I voted yes that I like them.
The reason I do like them is the way that they present them. In the vibrant colors, the awesome case with the lights, the id card and "top secret' stuff how they are packaged, and their rep. This really sets them apart from the rest, and why they are so successfull and pricey IMO. No computer company like dell, alienware, compaq, etc make their own parts, it's all the same in the box, so wouldn't you wrather have the one with the better class than the others if you had the choice?
Also, Alienware has a good customer support, it's just not as hyped or known for it as Dell because that's what they like to advertise.

They look very nice yeah, but they're way, way too overpriced.
That's why the best someone can do, IMO, is just build the computer yourself.
They are for rich kids to impress their friends. But if their friends know anything about computers, they will laugh. :)
i'm pretty sure if you're going to spend that much money you can build a better one by yourself by buying parts.
of course i dont know that 1st hand, thats what my friend says. =/
i'm pretty sure if you're going to spend that much money you can build a better one by yourself by buying parts.
That doesn't really make sense, you could build a better one by yourself if you spend that much money or not.
Reason I baught my alienware: I had the money at the time, I didn't know much about comps then, and I wanted a comp fast (didn't want to build it) because I had no comp at all at the time. If I knew what I know now I prob woulda baught like a low end comp that would just past my time as I baught parts to upgrade it and then try and end up with 2 comps :-D

Well, the thing is, a lot of people say, "Oh, you can just build a better comp by yourself," well... that's true about ANYTHING. Wanna buy a car? OMFG don't buy a Ferrari, you can just build one yourself if you buy the parts. NO SHIT SHERLOCK, but when you actually -try- to do it, it's more difficult than most people think, and you can run into all kinds of problems. If you aren't a computer expert, or have one to help you, it's better to just buy it from a company.
Aaaand, of those companies, Alienware is the best. Why? 1) Their product is the best. If you compare their products to Dell's (a leading competitor) you can see that they are *clearly* superior. Gateway just plain sucks, and Compaq isn't too great either.
2) Now, as for customer support, some magazines actually rate Alienware HIGHER than Dell. Why? Because the customer support IS better. I have both an Alienware and a Dell, and I found Alienware much more helpful in solving problems. Dell told me a few things to try to help, and then told me to call my ISP. Then, I went through shit with my ISP, and they told me to call Dell. -Eventually-, hours later, Dell fixed the problem. Was a royal pain in the ass though.
System
Manufacturers Overall Grades
Alienware A
Dell B
Compaq C
Gateway C-
HP D

You could also hire people to make an HTML page for you - 300$, or you could spend 15 minutes and figure out how to do it yourself and save 300$.
Hell, even getting someone to put it together for you (and even select parts) would still be a way cheaper than Alienware.

Umm, this is true why? They all have the same hardware under those towers
oh and btw, another reason why I baught an alienware is because it was one of the only companys that had AMD at the time (dell, compaq, etc didnt)

Dell doesn't use enough cooling fans, and even though they all use the "same parts," Alienwares usually have ~higher~ quality, newer parts.
"Delivering the Latest Technology for the Ultimate in Performance
1. Alienware places the latest innovations at your fingertips by ranking among the very first system manufacturers to deliver breakthrough technologies as they become available. No other manufacturer can keep pace in providing you with the highly advanced performance and reliability of an Alienware system.
2. Alienware systems are powered by cutting-edge processors and revolutionary audio, video, and memory capabilities to maximize your productivity and enjoyment.
3. Alienware systems feature standardized, non-proprietary components in a fully upgradeable architecture to extend the life of your system. In contrast, many other system manufacturers utilize proprietary components, which negate the possibility of upgrading to future technology and limit the life of your system." - http://www.alienware.com/standalone_pages/aw_difference.aspx

Hmm.. Wtf..
I just went and made the SAME exact comps on Alienware and Dell.. and guess which one was cheaper?
Alienware: $1,625.00
Dell: $1,769
BUT, the alienware has a 400 dollar mail in rebate. (no requirements either..) It's actual price is $2,025.00 ..
Point of this Post: Nows the time to buy an alienware >:P
Btw, the main reason I went was because warlord said they had better quality hardware than the rest, which is wrong because it is the same. Only dif is that alienware has amd, which is why I got it in the first place ;)
-David-
Dells are rip-offs too. :)

yeah i sorta realized than from lookin at there stuff.. but i still went with them because the main 2 comps where about alienware and dell

I dont see how dells are rip-ffs, because you can get a comp with almost exact specs for like 1,000 cheaper. I bought my refurbished for 700.00. No monitor or printer just the tower. 2 years ago it was top line. But now its mediocre O_O

How is that a rip-off? I dont understand. O_O. I think your using Rip-off in a different sense than iam thinking.
Well to me, if you have a choice between 2 stores, and one is 1000$ cheaper, the other is usually a ripoff. :)

uhh a rebate means you get money back once you mail them your reciept basically.

So for example you would prefer "Brand" name clothing rather than a walmart brand because its less expensive even though it is = quality? O_O

and ur point is? I just said the no requirements because some places might make u like sign up for somethin before u can get it or like u have to have a certain amount of purchase before u can get it
LoVe']So for example you would prefer "Brand" name clothing rather than a walmart brand because its less expensive even though it is = quality? O_O
You make no sense. Dell is a rip off because it is overpriced.
And yes i would wrather have brand name clothing, ESPECIALLY if it is less expensive than the walmart. are u sure u ment that? is english ur second language. (seriously not trying to bm..im curious)

Point is where did the extra 400$ come from..

I mean the actual price without the rebate is 2025, meaning that it would cost more than the dell if it didn;t have the rebate

-David- then you buy from a custom builder off line and get it for 1/3 of the price

then you buy from a custom builder off line and get it for 1/3 of the price
Quit with this 1/3rd shit, its not that much cheaper. They dont charge 2/3 to build a comp..

hell even www.ibuypower.com has amazing deal's for built towers..
